A New York appeals court affirmed a $1.2 million verdict in favor of a woman who lost sight in her right eye following cataract surgery, ruling that the testimony of the defendant’s expert was not sufficient to overturn the verdict. In the underlying case, Carola Rozon alleged that she lost sight in her right eye following a cataract surgery that went wrong and required revision. She alleges that a small tear during the second surgery caused bleeding in her eye and led to her blindness.
